AVP Unveils Eight-Event '17 Schedule; Walsh Jennings Yet To Commit

AVP today unveiled a slate of eight events for '17 (see the full schedule), kicking off at Huntington Beach, Calif., May 4-7. The beach volleyball tour, which had a record attendance year in '16, also will visit Hermosa Beach, Calif., for the first time since '10 and Austin for the first time since '05. The schedule, which runs through September, also will include stops in N.Y., Seattle, S.F., Chicago and Manhattan Beach, Calif. (AVP).

Kerri Walsh Jennings has "not yet committed to play in AVP events this summer," leading the tour to announce its '17 schedule "without including the game's top draw." Her absence "would be a blow to a tour that has struggled to capitalize on the Olympic spotlight in the years between Summer Games" (AP, 3/29).
