Sellout Crowd Expected For Triple-A All-Star Game In Charlotte

The 29th annual Triple-A All-Star Game takes place tonight at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, as the top talent from the Int’l League takes on the stars of the Pacific Coast League. The game, which will determine home-field advantage in the Gildan National Championship Game at Memphis' AutoZone Park on Sept. 20, will be nationally televised on MLB Network and is sponsored by Sonic Automotive. MiLB President & CEO Pat O’Conner said, “Charlotte is a fabulous host. In an event like this when you are bringing in all of the executives from around the country, along with family and players, there is so much to do. The staff and the city has greeted us with open arms.”

A sellout crowd of more than 10,000 is expected at the two-year-old, $54M home of the Knights, an affiliate of the White Sox. The team last hosted an All-Star Game in '92 when it was a Double-A affiliate of the Cubs and located in Fort Mill, S.C. O’Conner: “We have an absolutely beautiful venue to play in tonight. It is going to be wild. The electricity is going to be high. I would pay to get in even if it wasn’t our event.”
