Centerplate CEO Placed On Probation, Must Donate $100,000

The Centerplate BOD today issued a statement in response to the news of an animal cruelty incident involving CEO Des Hague. The BOD states Hague "will be given a written censure by the Board whereby he will be placed on indefinite probation stating that any further acts of misconduct would result in immediate termination." Hague also will be required to donate $100,000 toward the establishment of the Sade Foundation to support animal protection and safety in Vancouver, and to serve 1,000 hours of community service (Centerplate).

U.S. Bank Renews 49ers Sponsorship In Multiyear Agreement

The 49ers today will announce that they have extended U.S. Bank's sponsorship in a multiyear agreement. The bank will remain the team's official consumer banking partner. U.S. Bank will have a presence at Levi’s Stadium, including providing all of the on-site ATMs. The bank also will feature 49ers-branded products and promotions at its branches. Other activation includes bank customers having pre-sale access for stadium events (THE DAILY).

Donald Sterling Out Of Legal Options To Reverse Clippers Sale

Donald Sterling reacquiring the Clippers is now "virtually impossible," as court records indicate that he "failed to petition the California Supreme Court for review by Monday’s deadline." Sterling had 10 business days from Aug. 13 to petition the court to hear his case that the sale of the team should be rejected, and missing that deadline means that he "has run out of legal options in California to force" Steve Ballmer to "return the franchise." However, Sterling "can continue to wage litigation" against his wife Shelly Sterling, the NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver (SI.com, 8/27).

Royals GM Moore Following Yost's Comments: "We Love Our Fans"

Royals GM Dayton Moore today "expressed both support" for manager Ned Yost and "appreciation for his fanbase" in light of Yost's comments about last night's attendance at Kauffman Stadium. He said, "I know Ned's heart, and I know ours. We love our fans. We're very appreciative for their great support." Moore indicated that he was "not aware of Yost’s exact comments, but the essence of them had been communicated to him."

Meanwhile, Yost on K.C.-area WHB-AM this morning said that his "comments were not meant to be a criticism, but that he wanted fans to experience a playoff run." Yost: "We understand what fans have gone through. … We can pay them back for all the years of frustration" (KANSASCITY.com, 8/27).
