Source: 76ers Have Parted Ways With CEO Adam Aron

A source confirmed that the 76ers "have fired" CEO Adam Aron. It was first reported by Howard Eskin of Philadelphia-area TV station WTFX-Fox via his Twitter feed that the team "had parted ways" with Aron. In addition to his CEO title, Aron "had an ownership stake in the team," and it is "unknown if he still does" (PHILLY.com, 6/24). This follows a Twitter report from the N.Y. Daily News' Frank Isola late last week that former MSG President Scott O'Neil is "close to landing an executive position with Sixers" (TWITTER.com, 6/21).

White House In Talks With NFL To Promote ObamaCare

U.S. Health & Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today said that she is "in talks with the NFL to help promote new insurance options under ObamaCare." Sebelius said that the league "has been 'very actively and enthusiastically engaged' in discussions about a partnership to encourage people to enroll in newly available insurance plans." HHS also is reportedly "in talks with the NBA to promote the law" (THEHILL.com, 6/24).

CSKA Moscow To Headline This Year's Euroleague American Tour

Euroleague Basketball and the NBA today announced that CSKA Moscow will headline the '13 Euroleague American Tour. The club, which won the Russian championship and was a '13 Turkish Airlines Euroleague semifinalist, will play exhibition games against the Spurs and T'Wolves. The team will travel to Minneapolis on Oct. 7 and San Antonio on Oct. 9. CSKA Moscow is making its third trip to North America in the last five seasons (NBA).

Jacob's Creek Lands Andre Agassi To Take Part In Film Series

Winemaker Jacob's Creek today announced a partnership with Andre Agassi that will see the Int'l Tennis HOFer talk about his life on film as part of the Jacob's Creek Open Film Series 2. The series of short films will be available on Jacob's Creek's website and YouTube channel. Jacob's Creek is the official wine of Wimbledon, and ads promoting the film series will run on ESPN and ABC during the tournament, with supporting print and digital ads in Wine Spectator and on WineSpectator.com (Jacob's Creek).

WTA's Allaster Discusses Sponsorship, Athletes' Marketability

WTA Chair & CEO Stacey Allaster appeared on CNBC's "Worldwide Exchange" and said in terms of sponsorships, "We're really fortunate." Allaster: "When you have the most marketable female athletes in the world, my job's fairly easy. We've signed six new sponsors in the last three years. ... Our tournament revenue is growing, which means their sponsorship is up, which means player prize money is going up. So I feel very good, sponsors are being diligent. There's more rigor in the decision-making process. We are winning that race" ("Worldwide Exchange," CNBC, 6/24).

Driven Apps, Dwyane Wade Release Fitness-Themed App

Heat G Dwyane Wade today released a fitness-themed mobile app, called "Dwyane Wade Driven," that offers "customized training programs and videos for basketball players and other athletes." The app, priced at $3.99, includes basketball drills, a fitness routine and "ways for users to track their progress." Publisher Driven Apps "plans to release additional bundles for users to download once they have mastered or completed the initial Wade program" (AP, 6/24). 

Parx Casino, 76ers Agree To Multiyear Sponsorship Deal

The 76ers have entered into a multiyear sponsorship deal with Parx Casino, which will become the presenting partner for the Sixers Dream Team dance squad and will "present the Sixers halftime radio show for all regular season games." Parx will be featured in a "co-branded logo" for use on the in-arena scoreboard, as well as on Sixers Dream Team warm-ups, trading cards, Web pages on Sixers.com and "any other Sixers Dream Team materials produced throughout the partnership" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 6/24).

Sources said that the New Era Pinstripe Bowl and the ACC "have agreed to a six-year deal in which the ACC will annually play the Big Ten" in Yankee Stadium starting in '14 (ESPN.com, 6/24).

ESPN today unveiled its on-air talent for coverage of Thursday's NBA Draft. The main commentator team will consist of Rece Davis, Jay Bilas, Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons. Heather Cox will handle green-room interviews, and Heat F Shane Battier will interview draft picks after they have been selected (ESPN).

IMG has negotiated a deal for former soccer player David Beckham to endorse China Auto Rental. The deal was announced today as Beckham concluded his second visit to China as an ambassador to the China SuperLeague (IMG).

John McEnroe has agreed to a deal with publisher Little, Brown and Company for a new memoir, "currently untitled, that is scheduled or 2014." The publisher said that McEnroe "will focus on his years as a businessman and tennis broadcaster" (AP, 6/24).

Northern Illinois Univ. is launching a Heisman Trophy campaign for QB Jordan Lynch. The campaign, dubbed "Lynch for 6," features a website and a Twitter account (CBSSPORTS.com, 6/24).

NASCAR today announced that it will stage Contenders Live Sponsored by Toyota for the second straight year in Chicago. The event, in which the 12 Chase for the Sprint Cup drivers answer questions and interact with fans in a live audience, will be held Sept. 12 prior to the first Chase race at Chicagoland Speedway (NASCAR).

NBC Sports Network announced that it will carry ARCA Racing Series events "for the first time," with four races "airing in August" (MLIVE.com, 6/24).
