Ohio State President Gordon Gee today said that he plans to retire on July 1, "following the latest in a series of verbal gaffes that he said were meant as harmless jokes but ended up embarassing the university." Former Ohio State provost Joseph Alutto will step into Gee's role until the school's BOT "can find a suitable replacement" (DISPATCH.com, 6/4).

The Wooden Legacy college basketball tournament was announced today by representatives of ESPN Regional Television, Honda Center, UCLA, the Wooden family, Cal State Fullerton and the Big West Conference. The first iteration of the tournament will be played this year around the Thanksgiving holiday (ESPN).

Herbalife today announced a five-year endorsement contract with La Liga club Real Madrid F Cristiano Ronaldo (Herbalife).

NASCAR sponsor New Holland is partnering with the sanctioning body's "American Salute" military tribute effort. The agricultural equipment company will donate proceeds from a tractor hood autographed by Sprint Cup Series race winners to Fisher House Foundation, which assists military families (NASCAR).
