Freescale To Sponsor Austin Marathon, Which Dropped Livestrong

Austin Marathon and Half Marathon officials today announced that Freescale will be the event's new presenting sponsor. This comes six weeks after race organizers "confirmed they were parting ways with the Livestrong Foundation three years into a planned 10-year title sponsorship." Freescale was previously known as Motorola Semiconductor Products. The event began as the Motorola Marathon in '91, became the Freescale Austin Marathon in '05 and AT&T Marathon in '07. It had no title sponsor in '09 and '10 before picking up Livestrong in '11 (MYSTATESMAN.com, 6/4).
