Paul Kinzer Responds To WMG Claims About Why He Was Fired

MLB agent Paul Kinzer on Friday issued a response to a public statement his former employer, Wasserman Media Group, made stating that Kinzer was fired for cause in early October. “I’m very disappointed in Wasserman's statement earlier this week to the media concerning my departure,” said Kinzer. “I had two years remaining on my contract, but [WMG Vice Chair] Arn Tellem convinced me to renegotiate a new six-year contract in June, 2011. Over the past season, I’ve negotiated around $105 million in new player contracts. Wasserman now has attempted to use me as a scapegoat for their actions, something I will not tolerate and which will be addressed in the proper forum. I’m now ready for a new era in my career.”

Earlier this week, Wasserman outside counsel Bert Deixler said, in a statement to SportsBusiness Journal: "Paul Kinzer was terminated for cause on October 5, 2012. WMG policy and a concern for Mr. Kinzer’s dignity make it appropriate to not comment further."
