Mitch Modell Calls "Undercover Boss" Experience "Life-Changing"

Modell’s Sporting Goods CEO Mitch Modell appeared live in the studio on “CBS This Morning” to discuss his appearance on the season premiere of CBS’ “Undercover Boss” Friday night. Modell said his “biggest concern” was that employees would recognize him immediately. Modell: “I figured the only way they have a possibility of not catching me is shaving my head completely bald.”

Modell: “When you work with your associates on the front line, you find out things that in your wildest imagination you never find out about. It was life-changing for me.” Modell added as a result of the experience, “we changed a lot of processes in our company, the way we even look at our associates. We never had a formalized training in terms of recognizing top performers and when you looked at some of these associates, how dedicated and caring they were and how talented they were, it showed us some great opportunities” (“CBS This Morning,” CBS, 11/2).
