IMG Sports Marketing Symposium: Execs Offer Glimpse Into Future

The IMG Sports Marketing Symposium today featured a panel titled, “A Glimpse into the Future: What Will the Next Generation of Sports Marketing and Media Look Like?” in which much of the discussion hinged on how companies will continue to grow their social media use to create more conversation with fans and among fans. GM General Dir of Branded Entertainment Marketing Alliances Steve Tihanyi said, “People will continue to want to have their voice, in their own way they want to disseminate their thoughts and the way they’re creating content and distributing content.” ESPN CMO Carol Kruse mentioned marketers are still getting used to constantly overseeing social projects that they used to push aside once they finished. But WWE CMO Michelle Wilson reminded everyone that the whole point behind any marketing effort is to make money.
