Entry Process

How are the entries judged? Entries are judged by a panel of editors, writers and researchers from Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily. Entries will be evaluated on excellence, growth, creativity, innovation, sound planning, implementation and outcomes. The editorial panel for each category will determine the final nominees for that category. The list of judges for each category will not be released.

How are the nominees judged? For the eighth year, an external panel of industry executives will judge the nominees. The committee for each category will include a mix of industry executives and staff members representing Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily. The committee for each category will determine the winner of that category by a private vote. The list of judges for each category will be announced in Sports Business Journal following the awards ceremony. The categories for Sports Executive of the Year and Athletic Director of the Year will continue to be judged by an internal panel of editors, writers and researchers from Sports Business Journal/Daily.

When will I be notified about the status of my entry? Entrants that are chosen as nominees will be notified on Monday, March 18, 2019. A list of nominees will be published in Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily on Monday, March 18, 2019. Winners will be announced live during the awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the New York Marriott Marquis at Times Square.

Can I submit an entry in more than one category? Yes. Please include separate entry materials for each category.

Can I make an in-person presentation? In-person presentations will not be scheduled.

How much does it cost to enter? There is no fee to submit an entry.

Sports Business Awards Ceremony

How much does it cost to attend the awards? A table of 8 may be purchased for $5,000, or individual seats may be purchased for $700 each.

How can I purchase seats to the awards? Individual seats and tables can be purchased HERE or by contacting Lorianne Lamonica at 704-973-1523.

Is there a special/discounted room rate at the New York Marriott Marquis at Times Square for attendees? The Sports Business Awards does not have a block of rooms reserved at the New York Marriott Marquis at Times Square. Please contact hotel reservations at 212-398-1900 for the best available room rate.
