George Pyne

Bruin Sports Capital

George Pyne is CEO of Bruin Sports Capital which he founded January, 2015. Bruin specializes in developing high-growth, high-yield global businesses in the technology, sports, media, live events, marketing, and entertainment sectors. Today, Bruin spans five continents and its platforms are relied upon by virtually every major sports league, governing body, rights holder and blue-chip brand. The Bruin enterprises represent the vanguard of the new global sports economy, and billions of fans worldwide engage with their favorite sport through its companies.

Before Bruin, he was President and Board Member of IMG Sports & Entertainment. His stewardship featured game-changing strategies that ignited exponential revenue growth across multiple global businesses culminating in the company’s record sale to WME. Before that, as Chief Operating Officer and Board Member of NASCAR, he built the commercial side of the business, driving the sport from regional niche to national sensation and creating billions in new revenue.

While at Portman Companies, before joining NASCAR, Pyne played a central role in organizing a massive $2B debt restructuring for the company for its namesake owner John Portman, the world-renowned architect, and developer. There he created his first business, AMC Events, devoted to management and marketing of sports-related properties.  Before that, Pyne held a senior role with the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, where he led a complete analysis of the city’s school system and his recommendations led to sweeping reforms. 

Multiple prestigious publications and organizations have recognized Pyne as one of the great sports industrialists of the last quarter century. He is a Board member of the National Football Foundation and the National Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of New York and was previously on the Board of 24 Hour Fitness. Pyne was also Captain, All-Ivy League, and All-New England honoree as an offensive lineman at Brown.
