Leah Still On Field As Bengals Give $1.3M To Fight Cancer

During last night's Browns-Bengals game, Leah Still, the four-year-old daughter of Bengals DT Devon Still, was part of a presentation in which the team gave more than $1.3M to Cincinnati Children's Hospital to "help fight pediatric cancer from proceeds of the sale of Devon's No. 75 jersey over the last several weeks." During the ceremony after the first quarter, the Paul Brown Stadium videoboards played "Brave/True Colors," a music video featuring Leah. Browns QB Brian Hoyer came up to Devon "just before the start of the ceremony" and gave him a hug (CINCINNATI.com, 11/6).

CBS’ Jim Nantz during last night’s broadcast called the check presentation a “wonderful, sweet moment here, an outpouring of love for Leah Still.” CBS’ Tracy Wolfson said, “Just an emotional scene … with the check presentation and Leah Still. She was extremely emotional, overwhelmed by the situation. She came crying to her grandmother’s arms and her grandmother said to her, ‘Just remember. They’re all here because they love you’” (“Browns-Bengals,” NFL Network, 11/6).

Leah, who in June was diagnosed with stage four cancer, "flew to Cincinnati with family members on Wednesday night and is flying back to Philadelphia on Saturday." Devon is "going to fly back with her, because she starts radiation treatments on Tuesday" (CINCINNATI.com, 11/7).

San Antonio Leaders Meeting With Raiders Officials In Bay Area

Former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros will lead a group of area governmental and civic leaders meeting today with Raiders officials. This comes about four months after Raiders Owner Mark Davis first discussed with Cisneros the "possibility of the beleaguered NFL franchise moving to the Alamo City should it fail to gain a new stadium in Oakland" (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 11/7). The Raiders "would not confirm" today's visit and declined additional comment, but Davis has said that he "would like to keep the team in Oakland" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 11/7).

Judge Gives AT&T, DirecTV Go-Ahead To Launch Root Sports Houston

AT&T and DirecTV yesterday were "granted a clear path" to launch Root Sports Houston and to "begin televising Rockets games as early as this month." U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes "dissolved the last court-imposed delay against closing the new network deal." It "remains unclear when" CSN Houston will "fade to black," replaced by the new RSN. Comcast can "continue its appeal on financial aspects" of the CSN Houston bankruptcy case, while the Astros and Rockets can "close on the transactions that will accompany the network sale" (CHRON.com, 11/6).

Del Mar Racetrack To Open For First Fall Meeting In Decades

Del Mar's fall race meeting opens today, marking the first autumn horse racing at the facility since an "unsuccessful one-year gallop in the 1960s." Hollywood Park, which "closed forever last December," had been hosting fall races in Southern California. Trainers polled over the Breeders' Cup weekend at Santa Anita were "looking forward to the fall meeting, but some voiced concern about how it would play out." Nine of the 14 stakes races "will be run on Del Mar’s much-maligned turf course" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 11/5).

When the meeting ends Nov. 30, track superintendent Richard Tedesco "will oversee a project that will return Del Mar to its traditional dirt surface on its main track" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 11/6).
