Nancy Hogshead-Makar

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Champion Women

Since winning four Olympic medals in swimming at the 1984 Games, Hogshead-Makar has advocated for female athletes. She co-authored the NCAA’s model policy for pregnant and parenting student athletes, has spoken to Congress on gender equality, and was a leader in building support for the Safe Sport Authorization Act, a 2018 law that established sexual abuse protections for youth athletes. Hogshead-Makar, who has a law degree from Georgetown, founded Champion Women in 2014 to provide legal advocacy in areas including equal pay, Title IX compliance, sexual harassment and LGBTQ discrimination.
