Katten’s work and profile are on the rise as its representation extends across MLB, MLS, the NBA and NHL and includes team sales, venue financing and naming rights, and complex real estate transactions. The firm represented the Los Angeles Clippers for the financing and naming rights of the Intuit Dome and the Seattle Kraken in acquiring an NHL expansion franchise, renovating Climate Pledge Arena and building other facilities for the team. Klein, who joined Katten in 1995, represented the Phoenix Suns in their naming-rights agreement for Footprint Center, and the Utah Jazz for the sale of the team. Render, whose focus has been on professional sports and tech, negotiated for the Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center the long-term ticketing agreement with SeatGeek. Real estate specialists Westreich and Gorczynski have worked with the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers and numerous NBA and MLS teams regarding the impact of COVID on the rescheduling or cancellation of games and the impact on financing.
