Hogan Lovells’ work in sports, led by Umbaugh and Eisler, has grown in scope and profile recently, including work for the NFL and teams, and representation of brand (Oracle) and property (Metropolitan Football Stadium District in Denver) in naming-rights deals in San Francisco and Denver, respectively. The firm represented the San Antonio Spurs on the strategic investment from Sixth Street and Michael Dell, and Mikhail Prokhorov in the sale of the Brooklyn Nets to Joe Tsai. Eisler then represented Tsai in other sports transactions, including the purchase of a new expansion Las Vegas-based NLL team. Kurtenbach advised AEG on creating ASM Global, a joint venture with Onex Partners to run the global venue management businesses of AEG Facilities and SMG. Kuh, who joined the firm in 2019 from Latham & Watkins, represented the successful international bid by Canada, Mexico and the United States to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as well as served as lead outside counsel in creating the NWSL
