Sky's the limit

Sky Blue FC announced that it will play all of its home matches next year at 25,000-capacity Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., after calling Rutgers University’s 5,000-seat Yurcak Field home since 2009. Though Sky Blue FC has reached the NWSL playoffs just once in seven seasons, its increasing popularity in a major metropolitan area is a good sign for the league.

Sell

Change of power

The Washington Redskins had a bad week. They lost at home to the woeful Jets, falling to 1-9, before an announced crowd of 56,426, the lowest since 2013, while fans chanted “Sell the team!” Later in the week, a new poll showed that the Redskins — once the favorite local team of 34% of D.C. residents — had fallen behind the World Series champion Nationals among city dwellers with just 10% of the vote.

Such a move is likely years away, but Mayer, a contender to one day follow Bob Iger as Disney’s CEO, said, “We’re always monitoring the situation.”
