SBJ Social Climbers: College Basketball

Thanks largely to a run to the national championship game, the Texas Tech Red Raiders jumped 20 spots in the MVPindex social media rankings, according to data measured Oct. 18, 2018, through Oct. 17, 2019. The rankings factor in reach (fans/followers across social), engagement (likes, comments and shares) and conversation (mentions). MVPindex is a social media valuation for the sports and entertainment industries, offering real-time analytics on more than 90,000 athletes, entertainers, teams, leagues and brands across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Texas Tech’s “National Runner-up” post on Facebook drove more than 32,000 engagements.
UConn women’s basketball saw engagements top 19,000 for a post from the Final Four and 22,000 for one on WNBA draft night.
More than half of Wells Fargo’s brand value in its relationship with North Carolina came from the bank’s sponsorship of the Tar Heels’ score updates.
