The most important revelation of the launch phase of U.S. sports betting has been that the power of the daily fantasy brands, with a migratory customer base and high brand awareness among sports fans, has trumped the experience of the legacy sportsbooks. That’s what King was betting on when his DFS company was acquired by the global sportsbook then known as PaddyPower Betfair, now Flutter. Levin is well thought of in both league and media circles. His background as CEO of FanDuel-owned TVG gives him insight into state gaming regulators and could put FanDuel in an intriguing position as technology evolves toward on-screen sports betting.
