Giving peace a chance

For the first time in decades, the NHL and NHLPA look to be headed for labor peace without a work stoppage after the union, led by Donald Fehr, chose not to opt out of the current CBA. Doing so would have set the stage for a lockout next year, but now the current agreement remains in place until 2023.

Antonio Brown’s drama-filled summer that already included fighting with the NFL over his helmet and being fined and then waived by the Raiders (potentially costing him millions in guaranteed money) now includes being investigated for sexual assault and being dropped as an endorser by Nike and Xenith.

The inaugural Leagues Cup, which included four teams from both MLS and Liga MX, took place in Las Vegas and marked another step forward in the partnership between the top leagues in the U.S. and Mexico. It also fueled speculation about a possible super league being formed by uniting the two leagues, though such a possibility remains far off in the future.
