NFL 100

Leading the way in social media engagement

Heading into the 100th season, the New England Patriots replaced the Dallas Cowboys atop the NFL’s social media rankings, according to data from MVPindex measured from Aug. 8, 2018, through Aug. 7, 2019. Additionally, the Philadelphia Eagles took over the No. 3 spot, which a year ago was occupied by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The MVPindex ranking takes into account the reach (number of followers and impressions), engagement (likes, comments, shares, retweets, favorites) and conversation (positive/negative mentions) of more than 90,000 athletes, entertainers, teams, leagues and brands across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

On the athlete side, Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman generated the highest score in the index. New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, last season’s rookie of the year, made the top 10 list after adding nearly 1 million followers to his portfolio over the past year.
