Little League, big impact

Major League Baseball scored with the Little League Classic for the third straight year as it further cements the game as part of its annual calendar. TV viewership was up, the big-league Cubs and Pirates praised the event and social media users loved the uniforms the teams broke out for the occasion.

MSG Sports revenue dropped 32% in the fourth quarter that ended June 30. MSG Networks reported a 6.5% decline in subscribers, and cost overruns at the proposed MSG Sphere in Las Vegas — now projected as high as $1.7 billion — made for a tough week for James Dolan’s properties.

Toxic clean up

The proposed stadium site for MLS expansion team Inter Miami CF is more toxic than had been expected, with arsenic contamination levels at twice the legal limit and excessive levels of lead as well. The team said it would pay the costs for a follow-up test and any actions necessary to solve the problem, but that it won’t affect its plans to play at the site.
