Turner-owned Bleacher Report became the top sports brand across social media in 2018, and much of that was on the strength of its live sports streaming service and mobile app, B/R Live. Among the app’s livestreams are NBA League Pass and UEFA Champions Cup games, along with highlights of other sports.

As online and mobile sports betting became legal in some states, DraftKings was ready with its Sportsbook mobile gambling app. The app was well received upon launch — it hit the millionth bet milestone in nearly the first month — and quickly earned a substantial majority market share.

ESPN’s mobile app took another leap forward in 2018 with the addition of ESPN+, completing the integration of three components: news and scores, live games and shows that are on ESPN’s television channels and ESPN+. The app continued its position as the No. 1 sports app, including record numbers in October.

The enhanced NASCAR mobile app added features including unique augmented reality integrations, in-app microtransactions and expanded, exclusive in-race video content. NASCAR RaceView includes real-time, 3D virtual re-creations of every race, and offers fans ride-along opportunities using in-car HD cameras and audio.

Twitter raised the stakes as a sports content provider, distributing sports livestreams, including the groundbreaking “Friday Night Stripes” high school football series. Along with the NBA, it produced the first single-player camera during the NBA All-Star Game and partnered with Fox Sports on its World Cup coverage.
