Opportunities missing in sports: Board-level and executive management opportunities. Visible opportunities to influence and change the landscape of philosophical thought and perceptions of the homogeneous work environment. Developmental and learning opportunities in leadership and executive management. And lastly, opportunity and exposure to learn, experience and be given a chance to fail and succeed at the executive management level.

Call to action for sports: Diversity and inclusion must be the foundation of the long-term strategic plan. We have four centralized pillars of focus around diversity and inclusion: education and training; workforce diversification; supplier inclusion; and community engagement. Intentional focus in these areas is comprehensive in its reach, is impactful and necessary in today’s changing economic and communal climate.

Champion of diversity: Muhammad Ali. I truly admire his passion, transparency, heart and character. He embraced the true power and impact of sport, and used it as a platform for social, economic, personal and philanthropic change throughout the world.
