People: Executive Transactions

Baseball

The Baltimore Orioles hired Troy Scott as vice president of ballpark operations. Scott was vice president of stadium development and operations for D.C. United.

 

The Class AAA Pacific Coast League Colorado Springs Sky Sox will promote Chris Phillips to general manager and Keith Hodges to assistant general manager after the 2018 season. Phillips will replace Tony Ensor, who will become president and general manager for the Class AA Texas League Amarillo franchise. Both teams are owned by Elmore Sports Group

 

The Class AA Texas League Frisco RoughRiders named Andy Milovich president and general manager. Milovich was president of the Class A Carolina League Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Both clubs are owned by Greenberg Sports Group.

 

Basketball

The National Basketball Players Association named Dr. William Parham director of mental health and wellness.

 

The Golden State Warriors and Chase Center promoted Stevie Gray to vice president of ticket operations and Phil Hastings to vice president of event experiences; and hired Mike Sciortino as vice president of operations, Michael Rescigno as senior director of parking and transportation and Adrianne Wynne as senior director of event services. 

 

Colleges

The University of Arizona hired Derek van der Merwe as assistant vice president and chief operating officer of the athletic department. Van der Merwe was vice president for advancement, communication and strategic initiatives at Austin Peay University.

 

Austin Peay State University named Lisa Varytimidis associate athletic director and senior woman administrator. Varytimidis was assistant athletic director for compliance and senior woman administrator at the University of Louisiana Monroe. 

 

Bowling Green State University hired Taylor Jefferson as director of marketing and fan engagement. Jefferson was assistant athletic director at Emory & Henry College.

 

The University of California, Santa Barbara, named Christina Baglas deputy athletic director for development.

 

Delaware State University named David “Scott” Gines athletic director. Gines was vice president for intercollegiate athletics and campus recreation at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

 

Fairleigh Dickinson University Athletic Director David Langford will retire, effective June 28, after 15 years in that role.

 

The University of Florida named Jay Jacobs executive associate athletic director. Jacobs was formerly athletic director at Auburn University.

 

The College of the Holy Cross hired A.J. Kizekai as director of facilities, operations and events. Kizekai was assistant athletic director for operations and events at Bucknell University.

 

Jackson State University named Ashley Robinson vice president and athletic director. Robinson was vice president and athletic director at Prairie View A&M University.

 

Kent State University hired J Locklier as associate athletic director and executive director of athletics advancement. Locklier was assistant athletic director for leadership gifts at the University of Cincinnati.

 

Loyola Marymount University named Craig Pintens athletic director. Pintens was senior associate athletic director for marketing and public relations at the University of Oregon.

 

Miami University hired D’Angelo Solomon as associate athletic director for revenue generation. Solomon was an assistant vice president and business banking relationship manager for PNC Bank.

 

The North Dakota State University hired Alyson Vander Steen as assistant athletic director for marketing and fan engagement. Vander Steen was assistant athletic director for marketing and tickets at Augustana University.

 

Saint Mary’s College promoted Piper Brewster to associate athletic director of compliance for monitoring and education.

 

Stephen F. Austin State University named Ryan Ivey athletic director. Ivey was athletic director at Austin Peay State University.

 

The University of Texas hired Shawn Eichorst as executive senior associate athletic director for internal affairs and Drew Martin as executive senior associate athletic director for external affairs. Eichorst was formerly athletic director at the University of Nebraska, and Martin was associate athletic director for marketing and licensing at Texas Christian University.

 

The University of Texas at San Antonio hired Katie Douglass as executive senior associate athletic director for external affairs. Douglass was vice president of operations for EXOS.

 

Washington State University promoted Raegen Harvey to assistant athletic director of the Cougar Athletic Fund with oversight of all internal operations, and hired Jake Stevens as CAF development assistant and Domenica Jones chief of staff for athletics administration.

 

Football

National Football League Executive Vice President of Business Ventures Eric Grubman is leaving the league after 14 years.

 

The Green Bay Packers promoted Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jon Wojciechowski to co-directors of player personnel, Matt Malaspina to director of college scouting and Chad Brinker to assistant director of pro scouting and salary cap analyst.

 

The Washington Redskins hired Steve Ziff as chief marketing officer. Ziff was vice president of marketing and digital media for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

 

The Mobile Arts and Sports Association hired Jim Nagy as executive director and Sylvester Croom as senior vice president of operations for the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

 

Gaming

Esports organization Gen.G hired Jordan Sherman as head of sponsorships and revenue. Sherman was director of corporate sponsorships for the Los Angeles Clippers.

 

Hockey

The Los Angeles Kings promoted Madeline Frohling to coordinator of partnership sales, Scott Emery to senior manager of partnership sales, Nelson Emerson to director of player personnel and Glen Murray to director of player development. The organization also named Richard Seeley general manager and Zach Dooley manager of communications and content for the American Hockey League Ontario Reign.

 

The United States Hockey League named Tom Garrity president and commissioner. Garrity had served as interim commissioner since November.

 

Marketing

The Aspire Group promoted Joe Kronander to regional director at Purdue University and Jesse Moreno to team leader of ticket sales and service at Santa Clara University; and hired Alex Hambel as manager of ticket sales and service at Pepperdine University; Leah Winn as database marketing and analytics coordinator at the University of Toledo; Morgan Petriko as development consultant at Purdue University; Adelin Edwards and Buddy McGrath as sales consultants at the National Sales Center; Eric Eggleton and Alexes Johnson as sales and service consultants at Colorado State University; Garth Vincent as sales consultant at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay; Quinn Beard as new business and development sales consultant at the University of Kansas; Jack DeYager as sales and service consultant at Santa Clara University; Mitchell Bowen as service and retention consultant at the University of Denver; and Madison Zeiss, Shaun Camp, Patrick Riordan, Brian Brown, Charles Carver, Jason Dothard, Judean Hanks, Mark Keaveney, Miles Ritchey, Tray Crayton, Joe Alvarez, Demi Surnamer, Jacques Wells, Andrew Fierro, Natasha Husary, Warren Brody and Bosko Dimic as sales consultants for the company.

 

Synergy U.S. Chief Executive Officer Dominic Curran stepped down from his position.

 

Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment named Alsace Dickerson an account executive for the Big South Conference, Allison Walters marketing coordinator for Towson University, Shea Jury marketing coordinator for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and Christian Martino marketing coordinator for VWSE corporate.

 

Media

FloSports hired Lindsey Ross as director of rights acquisition. Ross was manager of programming and acquisitions for ESPN.

Fox Sports Arizona promoted Josh Kelman to coordinating producer, and hired Saul Bookman as digital content manager.

 

JMI Sports named Nino Vanin vice president of sponsorship sales for Penn Sports Properties at the University of Pennsylvania. Vanin was vice president of business development for Spectra.

 

Learfield hired Meka Morris as senior vice president and Larry Peters as vice president. The company named the following as general managers for its collegiate business: Jason Martin for Bulls Sports Properties at the University of Buffalo; Mike Petrini for Georgia Southern Sports Properties at Georgia Southern University; Justin Barnes for Black Bear Sports Properties at the University of Maine; Mike Shayotovich for Wolf Pack Sports Properties at the University of Nevada; Tom Konczyk for Huskie Sports Properties at Northern Illinois University; Mark Walpole for Purdue Sports Properties at Purdue University; Kyle Ingram for Billikens Sports Properties at Saint Louis University; Chad Sheetz for St. Cloud State Sports Properties at St. Cloud State University; and Garrett Altier for Lumberjack Sports Properties at Stephen F. The United Soccer League expansion club Birmingham Legion FC named Doug Hicks executive vice president. Hicks was formerly vice president of communications for the Chicago Fire.
