Forty Under 40

We asked the Forty Under 40: My favorite vacation spot is … (and why)

Cinque Terre, ItalyGetty Images

Lindsay Amstutz

Cinque Terre, Italy. The remote villages make you feel like you’re the first to discover that part of the world.

Bryce Blum

The Oregon coast because it’s naturally beautiful, has good food, and I spent a lot of time there growing up so I’m surrounded by memories.

Kary Brock

Lake Como or my family’s shore house. The beach is my happy place. It’s a place of calm, relaxation and solitude.

Matthew Caldwell

Italy — Italians know how to relax, drink, and eat.

Lindsay Kagawa Colas

Lake Tahoe. I went every summer as a kid with my dad’s entire extended family and many of my favorite memories are from there. This last year we rebooted the tradition with my cousins, our parents and our kids and it was amazing.

Tory Dandy

Cabo, Mexico.

Nili Doft

Israel, because I always learn and see something new, and most of my trips there are centered around celebrations.

Sean Eggert

North woods of Wisconsin, totally disconnect.

Todd Fleming

Anywhere there is a beach!! The beach can be whatever you want it to be. It can be a gym, it can be a tanning bed, it can be the place you meet friends, but more than anything you just feel relaxed at the beach. Some of the best I’ve been to are: St. Thomas in USVI, Porto Ercole in Italia or Castelldefels in España.

Junior Gaspard

Grand Cayman.

Brandon Gayle

Hong Kong. The region has great people, food, hiking, tailor shops, and nightlife.

Matt Grandis

St. Maarten.

Brad Griffith

Thailand. I love the culture and the food. The people there are so happy to show you around.

Matt Hill

Aspen Snowmass. Putting the kids in ski school and hitting the slopes with my wife, before “finishing the day with a proper apres ski!”

Court Jeske

St. John’s, USVI. It’s the Caribbean and a national park all in one.

Nina King

Cape Cod. We spend time there every summer, it’s a great family vacation spot — beautiful, laid back, and we love Cape League Baseball!

Pat LaCroix

Ogunquit, Maine. About as pure Maine as you can get.

Chris Marinak

Caye Caulker in Belize. Great beach, fresh seafood, and no cars allowed on the island.

Michael Melnitzky

Greece. I recently went there on my honeymoon and loved the food and different experiences you have on each island.

Kim Miale

Italy. I love the art and history of Florence, and the wine and food throughout the region. Tuscany will also always hold a special place in my heart because I got engaged to my husband there.

Ben Milsom

Beaches Ochos Rios, Jamaica. The service is amazing.

Brendan Moynihan

Sea Island, Ga., is a really special place to take kids.

Megha Parekh

I like and have learned from all of the places I’ve traveled to, but Seville, Spain, is one of my favorites. The people there were warm, welcoming and eager to share their culture. I spent an afternoon learning how to flamenco dance and drinking sherry with strangers.

Deepen Parikh

Tel Aviv — amazing beaches, people and food; and Ocean City, Md. — been there with my family every summer since I was a baby.

Dave Pietrycha

Block Island, Rhode Island. It truly feels like the same place I can imagine it was 50 years ago. It is one of the few places where I feel like I can completely unplug (even though my phone still works there).

Josh Pyatt

Maui.

Jake Reid

Napa Valley. Completely relaxing … and I love wine!

Brent Rossi

St. John, Virgin Islands. It’s the perfect combination of beauty and tranquility.

Angela Ruggiero

Anywhere on the Italian coast. Amazing culture, food, wine, history.

Frank Saviano

Martha’s Vineyard. Great summer vacation spot with my family.

Erin Schnieders

Italy (the culture, architecture, food and wine).

Nzinga Shaw

Grand Cayman islands because I love the water sports and to swim with stingrays and dolphins, which they have galore.

Dan Shevchik

Isla Del Sol, in St. Petersburg, Fla. I’ve been fishing off the local pier with my dad for about 35 years now, and it’s where I proposed to my wife (not on the fishing pier), so that place has special meaning to me. I’ll be taking my 2-year-old son for the first time this March.

Jordan Solomon

Martha’s Vineyard. It’s my ideal place to relax by the beach and enjoy time with family and friends.

Ryan Spoon

Vail, Colo. We’ve been going there as a family since I was a child and love it as much in the summer as we do in the winter. Now that our kids are old enough to enjoy and love skiing, it’s become their favorite trip each year.

Steve Starks

Southern Utah.

Josh Veilleux

San Sebastian, Spain. The people, food, wine, culture and environment are all incredible.

Miheer Walavalkar

Seychelles because it’s where my wife is at her happiest.

Danny White

An under-the-radar beach in an under-developed part of the beautiful Florida Atlantic coast, where the waves are small enough that I can actually surf them.

Josh Whitman

Iceland. It is such a diverse and breathtaking landscape; I believe it is one of Earth’s great hidden treasures.
