The Kansas City Royals promoted Matthew Schulte to senior manager of special events and promotions.

 

The Houston Astros hired Mark Zarthar as president of their Class A Advanced Carolina League Fayetteville Baseball Club. Zarthar was global head of sports marketing for Anheuser-Busch InBev.

 

The Class AAA Pacific Coast League Oklahoma City Dodgers hired Travis Piercefield as director of marketing and communications. Piercefield was senior manager of digital strategy for the Houston Dynamo.

 

Basketball

The Memphis Grizzlies and FedExForum hired Dwight Johnson as vice president of arena operations. Johnson was general manager for SMG Richmond.

 

Colleges

The University of Alabama named former assistant football coach Burton Burns assistant athletic director for football.

 

Charleston Southern University promoted Chad Scott to assistant athletic director of student-athlete development.

 

Florida A&M University promoted John Eason to athletic director.

 

The University of Mississippi promoted Angela Robinson to senior associate athletic director for financial operations, Jason List to associate athletic director for marketing, Drew Clinton to assistant athletic director for academics, Neal Mead to assistant athletic director for event management and Shane Sanford to assistant athletic director for broadcast services. The school hired Keith Carter as deputy athletic director for development and resource acquisition, Lynnette Johnson as deputy athletic director for sports and administration and Michael Thompson as deputy athletic director for external relations and business development. 

 

Penn State promoted Renee Messina to assistant athletic director for athletic training services.

 

Esports

Immortals hired Tomi Kovanen as general manager of its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive division and J.M.R. Luna as vice president of content and production.

 

Golf

The Century Club of San Diego and Farmers Insurance Open hired Ashley Adams as ticketing and tournament support manager. Adams was a ticket seller and ticket systems coordinator for the San Diego Padres.

 

Facilities

Legends hired Paula Portz as chief operating officer for Legends project development and Martin Jennings as senior vice president of European development for Legends International.

 

Marketing

The Aspire Group named Ted Lopez sales and service manager at San Jose State University.

 

Lauren Renschler launched William Raymond Communications, which will focus on public relations, marketing and crisis communications.

 

Media

Entercom Communications hired Jim McCloud as executive vice president of national business development. McCloud was group director and vice president of sponsorship sales and client services for Major League Baseball.

 

Golf Channel named Bradley Klein a senior writer for Golf Advisor.

 

Multiteam Companies

AMB Sports & Entertainment Senior Vice President of Fan Experience Mike Gomes left the company after three years to join a real estate investment firm as chief experience officer.

 

Olympics

USA Swimming promoted Nailah Ellis Timberlake to director of USA Swimming Productions.

 

Soccer

The Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC hired Travis Gafford as director of premium sales and service.

 

Awards and Boards

Nike named Peter Henry, dean emeritus of New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and William R. Berkley, professor of economics and finance, to its board of directors.

 

Other

ANC named Christie Freer junior account executive for venue services.

 

Strategy and analytics consultancy KPI named Mark DiMaurizio vice president of strategic consulting. DiMaurizio was senior vice president for FanOne Marketing Services.

 

Marquee Search hired Tyler Nelson as manager of executive search. 

 

The McGowan Professional Athletes & Entertainers Insurance Solutions Practice hired Jack Presson as a client associate.

 

The WWE promoted George Barrios and Michelle Wilson to co-presidents and appointed both to its board of directors.
