PeacePlayers launches U.S.-based effort in three cities with aid of Nike

While its focus has been outside of North America, PeacePlayers is now developing programs in the United States through its new partnership with Nike. Part of Nike’s Equality campaign, the collaboration with PeacePlayers and Boston-based Mentor, which focuses on mentors for young people, will aim to develop youth leaders through sport and look to strengthen relationships between police and their local communities. Initial programming this summer is focused on the Park Heights neighborhood of Baltimore, the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn and the Cody Rouge and Southwest neighborhoods of Detroit. Each market will have a localized approach engaging youth and police through basketball.
