CHANGE FROM 2015: NEWCOMER

The Chinese conglomerate that Wang chairs was in the middle of every major deal of the year and was a first mover in the bevy of China-based companies investing big in sports and entertainment. It has a stake in Club Atlético de Madrid, acquired Infront Sports & Media and World Triathlon Corp., became partners in FIBA and FIFA, and explored buying the UFC. In addition, don’t overlook its ownership of Legendary Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions. An ambitious group, with very deep resources, that believes in sports. That’s a powerful combination.
