New home for statue

As part of the Nolan Ryan Foundation’s move from Alvin, Texas, to Round Rock, one of two statues of Ryan has been relocated from Alvin to the home plate entrance at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. At the Nov. 1 unveiling: Round Rock Express GM Tim Jackson, Ryan Sanders Baseball CEO Reese Ryan, Nolan Ryan and Express President Chris Almendarez.

Ripken’s Tip-Off team in Baltimore

The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation hosted its sixth annual College Season Tip-Off at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront on Oct. 26: ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, Maryland coach Mark Turgeon, Hugh Durham Award recipient and former Bucknell University coach Pat Flannery, Villanova coach Jay Wright, Georgetown coach John Thompson III and former Maryland coach Gary Williams.

Wasserman gets it done on Serve Day

Casey Wasserman and the Wasserman Foundation hosted their sixth annual Wasserman Serve Day in October, with more than 200 Wasserman employees, friends and clients participating in service projects across six cities. Wasserman’s Los Angeles office painted the playground and library at 107th Street Elementary in Watts.

Volunteer Challenge winners

Fifth annual Pro-Am Jam

University of Oklahoma men’s basketball coach Lon Kruger received the American Cancer Society St. George National Award during halftime at the Oklahoma-Baylor football game earlier this month. The organization’s Randy Linduff presented the award to Kruger, a longtime American Cancer Society volunteer.
