Sound investment: Recording studio planned for Golden 1 Center

Eat your heart out, Jay Z.

The Sacramento Kings plan to build a recording studio at Golden 1 Center, to accommodate touring artists who may want to lay down some tracks while in town to play a show at the arena.

The team has reserved a 1,100-square-foot space at event level to build the studio, team owner Vivek Ranadivé said.
No other big league facility is thought to have incorporated a recording studio.

The team’s strategy is to use the studio as leverage to book a greater number of shows, Kings President Chris Granger said.

“It’s about being competitive in a small market as we look to become a concert destination,” Granger said. “We tried to think of the artist first. From the massive underground loading dock to the multiple star dressing rooms and the recording studio, we want Golden 1 Center to be an easy choice for artists and their management.”
