Navy honors Monumental’s Leonsis

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus (left) presented Monumental Sports & Entertainment founder, chairman, majority owner and CEO Ted Leonsis with the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award at the Washington Wizards game Feb. 23. The award is presented to civilians for exceptionally outstanding service of substantial and long-term benefit to the Navy, Marine Corps or Department of the Navy as a whole.

Digging in at future site of The Hub

Officials and community members recently celebrated the official groundbreaking of The Hub on Causeway development on the site of the former Boston Garden on Causeway Street, where Delaware North and Boston Properties have formed a partnership to develop more than 1.5 million square feet of mixed-use retail, office, hotel, residential and an expansion of TD Garden on the site: TD Garden’s Amy Latimer, Boston Properties’ Bryan Koop, Jeremy Jacobs of Delaware North and the Boston Bruins, Boston Mayor Martin Walsh, Charlie Jacobs of Delaware North’s Boston Holdings and Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito.

Tribute to Jackie Robinson

At a Jackie Robinson tribute at New Mission High School in Hyde Park, Mass., recently: NESN host Adam Pellerin; former Boston Red Sox outfielder Tommy Harper; George Mitrovich, chairman of the Fenway Writers Series; and Red Sox poet laureate Dick Flavin. Warsaw class visits NYC

The University of Oregon Warsaw Sports Marketing Center visited ESPN’s research division recently during an experiential learning trip to New York City. The visit was part of an annual study tour offered to second-year Oregon MBA students and included meetings with leagues, brands, media companies and agencies.

UFC commits $1M to study

UFC furthered its commitment to the Cleveland Clinic’s Professional Fighters Brain Health Study with a five-year, $1 million commitment.
