Fox expects big impressions for Big East

Fox Sports said the comparison of the Big East’s viewership with the American Athletic Conference that was in last week’s column was too harsh. While the AAC’s per-game viewership on ESPN and ESPN2 is higher, Fox believes the fact that it carries many more Big East games should be considered. So far this season, 33 Big East games on Fox and
FS1 have brought in 4.05 million total impressions, while the six AAC games on ESPN and ESPN2 are at 3.55 million.

Fox spokesman Lou D’Ermilio: “Looking at TV viewership, the benefit of our Big East deal is that we provide a huge volume of nationally televised games. That’s going to hurt average viewership, but it greatly helps total exposure. We’re confident that by the end of the season the national exposure of Big East schools on our networks will dwarf that of AAC schools elsewhere.”
