Perhaps no sector of the industry was more discussed in 2015 than daily fantasy sports. In less than a year, both FanDuel and DraftKings closed major funding rounds with billion-dollar valuations, struck an array of new team and league partnerships, injected vast sums of new money into the sports marketing ecosystem, and found themselves in the crosshairs of rising governmental scrutiny. Still unprofitable and on tenuous legal ground, the pressure remains squarely on Eccles and Robins.
