Baseball
The Tampa Bay Rays named Rob Metzler scouting director and R.J. Harrison senior adviser for scouting and baseball operations.

Basketball
The Orlando Magic promoted Charles Freeman to chief operating officer.

The Philadelphia 76ers promoted David Pingsterhaus, Eric Stauffer, Nick Toland, and Mitch Cohen to group event specialists and named David T. Martin director of performance research and development.

The Utah Jazz hired Jeff Watkinson as assistant coach of integrated player development and Zach Guthrie as manager of basketball strategy and technology.

Colleges
Syracuse University hired Mark Coyle as athletic director. Coyle was the athletic director at Boise State University. Interim Athletic Director Peter Sala was named vice president and chief campus facilities officer.

Florida A&M University named Milton Overton athletic director. Overton was senior associate athletic director at the University of Alabama.

ESSMAN
Maryville University hired Meghan Essman as assistant professor of the Rawlings sport business management program. Essman was director of fan development and educational programs with the Philadelphia Phillies.

UC Riverside hired Tamica Smith Jones as athletic director. Jones was senior associate athletic director for internal affairs and senior woman administrator at University of Texas at San Antonio.

Butler University hired Carly Dressler as assistant director of compliance and academics, and John Dedman as associate athletic director for communications. Butler also promoted Tom Crowley to deputy athletic director, Alex Perry to assistant athletic director for business operations, Chance Kuehn to assistant strength and conditioning coach, and Natalie Morse to director of basketball operations.

Colgate University hired Yariv Amir as associate athletic director for external operations.

Appalachian State University hired Brittney Whiteside as an associate athletic director. Whiteside was director of external engagement at the University of Missouri.

The America East Conference promoted Shonna Brown to executive associate commissioner and Chad Dwyer to associate commissioner for championships.

The University of Miami hired James Johnson as director of basketball operations. Johnson was coach at Virginia Tech.

Santa Clara University hired Renee Baumgartner as athletic director. Baumgartner was deputy athletic director and chief of staff for athletics at Syracuse University.

The University of North Carolina hired Nicki Moore as a senior associate athletic director. Moore was senior associate athletic director for student life and strategic planning at the University of Oklahoma.

San Jose State University hired Mike Waller as senior associate athletic director for business operations. Waller was senior associate commissioner and chief financial officer for the Mountain West Conference.

Facilities

SHEPHERD
Guest Services Inc. hired Scott Shepherd as vice president and chief commercial officer. Shepherd was senior vice president of corporate partnerships, special events and government relations with the Washington Redskins.

VenuWorks hired George Wood as chief executive officer.

Intrust Bank Arena hired Kandace Walton as sales manager.

Football
The Buffalo Bills promoted Rob Hanrahan to director of pro personnel and Kevin Meganck to director of football operations. The team also hired Kevin Murphy as a pro scout and promoted Marcus Cooper to a college area scout and Casey Weidl to manager of football operations.

Golf
The Farmers Insurance Open hired Danny Waite as senior partnerships representative, Michelle Willette and Lauren Grondin as senior managers of partner relations, and Maryn Bieganski as ticket and service manager and partnerships representative.

The Utah Section PGA named Devin Dehlin executive director.

Hockey
The Colorado Avalanche hired Greg Sherman as senior vice president of business and team operations.

The Grand Rapids (Mich.) Griffins of the American Hockey League promoted Tim Gortsema to president.

Hockey Canada named Doug Armstrong general manager. Armstrong is the general manager of the St. Louis Blues.

Raptor Sports Group hired Bill Nielsen as senior vice president for the FanManager product.

One World Sports hired Rachel Gary as director of media strategy and communications. Gary was director of communications for the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games.
