Kings have lofty goal for new suite product

The Sacramento Kings have begun sales of “loft” suites for their future downtown arena. The suites, similar to luxury suites but smaller and less expensive, went on sale last Monday, Kings President Chris Granger said.

“You should think of it as an entry to your living room,” Granger said in a mockup of a loft at the team’s Experience Center in downtown Sacramento. The team will have 48 lofts for sale, compared with 34 suites.

room for eight to 10 people, making them ideal for small to midsize companies or even large families, Granger said. Marketing such a product is an acknowledgment by the team that the region’s economic base has no Fortune 1000 companies but does have several smaller ones.

Even so, Granger said, the team has already sold all but two of the larger suites, which will ring the arena bowl above the lofts. Granger would not reveal how much the lofts are being sold for, but said it’s about half what a suite costs. The team’s business office did not immediately have information on the cost of the suites or lofts.

As with suite holders, loft holders would have access to the arena’s exclusive club and bar areas, preferred parking, ability to use the arena on “dark” days, and loft access for all scheduled arena events, Granger said.

“We’ve said from the beginning, we want this to be unique for Sacramento,” Granger said.

The team has collected an interest list for the lofts that’s well above the actual number of lofts, Granger said, though he would not share an exact number.
