Excel to rep QB Matt Ryan off the field

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has signed with Excel Sports Management partners and agents Alan Zucker and Mark Steinberg for marketing work and all off-the-field endeavors.

Zucker, the marketing agent to NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, will lead Ryan’s representation at Excel and Steinberg will assist. CAA Sports formerly represented Ryan for marketing work, and CAA’s Tom Condon will continue to represent him on the field.

Ryan, the No. 3 pick in 2008 and a three-time Pro Bowler, has Bose and Nike as endorsements.

“We are currently looking at renewals of those two deals, as well as to explore other opportunities with high-level corporations that have a connection to the Atlanta area or a connection to the NFL that want to market a professional athlete who carries himself well, supports his city and supports his team,” Zucker said.

In addition to Peyton and Eli Manning, Zucker recently signed Oregon quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, who is expected to be a high draft pick.

Of Ryan, Zucker said, “We wouldn’t be representing him if we didn’t feel he had the goals and objectives to raise his profile and the on-field talent in order to do so,” Zucker said. Ryan has appeared in a commercial for Gillette razors.

Steinberg and Zucker have together representing talent together before, including in 2009 when they represented Danica Patrick while both working at IMG.
