WMG, CAA sign potential NBA first-rounders

Wasserman Media Group and CAA Sports are both set up to have a fruitful NBA draft next month, as each agency has signed a handful of high-profile prospects who are projected to be first-round selections.

Wasserman Media Group has signed three projected lottery picks: Duke forward Jabari Parker, Kansas center Joel Embiid and Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart. Website DraftExpress.com had Parker ranked No. 2, Embiid No. 3 and Smart No. 6 last week among this year’s draft prospects.

Other top prospects on board with Wasserman are UCLA guard/forward Kyle Anderson, who was ranked No. 17 last week, and Syracuse forward Jerami Grant, who was ranked No. 20.

The agency also represents Bogdan Bogdanovic, a guard on the Serbian professional team Partizan Belgrade; Iowa guard Roy Devyn Marble; Canisius guard Billy Baron; Arizona State guard Jahii Carson; Gonzaga forward/center Sam Dower; USC center Omar Oraby; Wisconsin guard Ben Brust; and Utah State center Jarred Shaw.

Agents B.J. Armstrong, Arn Tellem, Lee Melchionni, Thad Foucher, Greg Lawrence, Josh Ketroser, Darren Matsubara, James Dunleavy and Francois Nyam will represent the players.

CAA Sports, meanwhile, also is representing a group of projected first-round picks: European center Jusuf Nurkic, Michigan State guard Gary Harris, N.C. State forward T.J. Warren and Louisiana-Lafayette guard Elfrid Payton. The agency is co-representing Kentucky guard/forward James Young, in partnership with Roc Nation Sports, as well.

Nurkic, who plays for Cedevita of the Croatian league, was ranked No. 9 by DraftExpress.com last week. The website ranked Harris at No. 13, Young at No. 15, Warren at No. 16 and Payton at No. 27.

CAA Sports also has signed Michigan forward Glenn Robinson III and Washington guard C.J. Wilcox.

The players will be represented by the team of agents from CAA Sports’ basketball division, including Leon Rose, Henry Thomas, Aaron Mintz, Steven Heumann, Ty Sullivan and Austin Brown.

This year’s draft is June 26 in New York City.
