Green plans departure from GMR Marketing, explores options

Veteran marketer Tamera Green plans to leave GMR Marketing in mid-May, she said.

Green, who joined GMR in 2006 as vice president and group account director after several years at IMG and Muhleman Marketing in Charlotte, will explore other professional opportunities.

“I’ve decided to make a change and do something different, and GMR has been very supportive of that,” Green said.

Her experiences in sports marketing have been many, including working with Muhleman to bring the NFL Panthers to Charlotte. Out of GMR’s Charlotte office, she worked closely on Gillette’s sports marketing efforts, which included the “Young Guns” platform in NASCAR and several Olympic initiatives. She most recently has consulted with GMR clients HBO, Speed, Cintas and Best Buy.

Mike Boykin, GMR’s executive vice president of sports marketing, credited Green with helping expand GMR’s consulting business, as well as with discovering and developing young talent within the agency. Boykin didn’t discount the possibility of Green working on some projects that could extend her relationship with GMR past mid-May.
