In the Office: Joe Steranka, CEO, PGA of America

Two sides of Joe Steranka's corner office in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., overlook a golf course. And from time to time, he even gets to play it. What did you expect from the CEO of the PGA of America? His job is to promote golf and he has to do his part. "If the CEO of the PGA of America is too busy to play golf, how can I tell others that they need to be playing more golf?" Steranka plays about 60 times a year, which is quite a feat considering that he is on the road 200 days a year. During those days when he is in his office, he is surrounded by mementoes from his past, some golf related, some not. On one wall hangs a New Yorker magazine cover depicting a less fortunate person on the wrong side of the railroad tracks. It remains one of Steranka's inspirations to make golf as accessible as possible to as many people as possible.
