FOR THE WEEK OF 3/20/06 - 3/26/06

BASKETBALL, COLLEGE STYLE: CBS’s Thursday night two-game, four-team college basketball tournament coverage on March 23 averaged 8.1 million households, down 9 percent from last year’s comparable night. The network averaged 6.94 million households for similar doubleheader coverage Friday night, down 1 percent from last March. The Saturday night regional final coverage (Memphis-UCLA) was that night’s No. 1 show for the third year in a row.

BASKETBALL, PRO STYLE: ESPN’s Wednesday night doubleheader on March 22 averaged 1.4 million households, up 31 percent over last year’s comparable two-game set. The early Heat-Pistons matchup drew 1.55 million households, up 36 percent over last year’s early game; the late Spurs-Nuggets game was up 26 percent. The net’s Sunday night Nets-Pistons game averaged 1.1 million households, even with last year.
