The club also promoted John Sorrentino to vice president of business development and Brooke Ellenberger to director of ticket services.

The Seattle Sonics and Storm promoted Rich Cho to assistant general manager/vice president of legal.

Colleges
The Southern Conference hired Bryan McGowan as assistant commissioner for public affairs and promoted Mandi Copeland to director of media services. McGowan was associate media relations director for the Mid-American Conference.

Iowa State University named Jamie Pollard athletic director. Pollard was deputy athletic director at the University of Wisconsin.

Arena Management Group/Glendale Arena named Suzanne Kimball executive director of arena marketing, Sean Saadeh executive director of event programming and Jennifer Hauser arena marketing coordinator and promoted Paul Serbic to assistant director of security.

Global Spectrum named Chris Connolly assistant general manager of the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario, and promoted Don Graham to assistant general manager of the Wachovia Complex in Philadelphia. Connolly was senior event manager of the Wachovia Complex.

Kerry Chandler, ESPN senior vice president, human resources, will leave the company to become senior vice president, human resources, for Hong Kong Disneyland starting in January 2006.

KemperSports Management named Toby Davis senior vice president, Mark Luthman regional director of operations in the West and Tom Saathoff regional director of operations in the Middle Atlantic.

Reggie Barnes was named general chairman of the FedEx St. Jude Classic and president of Youth Programs Inc. Barnes was chairman of the Memphis and Shelby County Sports Authority.

Media
ABC Radio Networks named John Fitzgerald vice president, ESPN Radio Sales. Fitzgerald was director of sponsorship sales for ESPN Radio.

ESPN promoted Vince Doria to senior vice president, director of news and studio production; Kevin Stolworthy to senior vice president, production operations and creative services; and Bob Chesterman to senior coordinating producer, ESPN Original Entertainment.

FSN South promoted Hammond Reynolds to senior coordinating producer/original programming.

The YES Network named Al Gaherty senior vice president of finance. Gaherty was vice president/corporate controller for the Sesame Workshop in New York.

Intersport hired Dana Schmelzer Golden as vice president of development and Brett Kurland as director of brand integration. Golden was vice president of national accounts for ESPN.

Motorsports
Petty Enterprises named Robbie Loomis executive vice president of race operations. Loomis will remain a Hendrick Motorsports consultant through the 2005 season.

Ex-NFL player Julius Curry and players Markus Curry and Al Harris formed a NASCAR team, Curry Motorsports.

The Knight Foundation Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics elected to its panel Val Ackerman, president of USA Basketball; Bill Asbury, vice president emeritus for student affairs, Pennsylvania State University; Anita DeFrantz, president of the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles and member of the USOC and IOC; Janet Hill, vice president of Alexander & Associates; Steve Largent, NFL hall of famer and president of CTIA-The Wireless Association; Andrea Fischer Newman, chairwoman of the board of regents of the University of Michigan and senior vice president for government affairs for Northwest Airlines; Jerry Porras, professor emeritus of organizational behavior at Stanford University; and Judy Woodruff, CNN contributor.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame named Christopher Clouser chairman of the hall’s executive committee. Clouser is chairman of ATP Properties.
