NBA replaces team services VPs who left for clubs

The NBA has filled key vacancies in its team services department after the departure of two league executives earlier this year.

Jared Bartie, most recently working as U.S. Tennis Association general counsel, has been hired as vice president of team services, replacing Paul Mott, who left the league to become president of the New Orleans Hornets. Bartie has no prior NBA experience. He previously worked as vice president of new development for Radio City Entertainment and helped launch the defunct XFL.

“This is a job that requires analytical thinking, and Jared understands how a business works,” said Scott O’Neil, senior vice president of marketing and team business operations for the NBA.

The NBA also hired Chris Granger as vice president of team services to replace Lou DePaoli, who left the league to become executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the Atlanta Hawks. Granger has been with the NBA for six years, most recently as vice president of fan development. Before joining the NBA, Granger worked at Walt Disney World in hospitality.

Both Bartie and Granger will report to O’Neil, who said the new hires complete the team services department staffing needs for the coming season.
