WFAN, Verizon top radio ad spending lists

WFAN-AM in New York generated the most ad revenue among sports radio stations in the first half of 2005, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus data. Nielsen Monitor-Plus tracks local radio ad spending in 26 of the largest U.S. media markets, identifying all prerecorded advertising that is 30 seconds or longer. In an exclusive to SportsBusiness Journal, Nielsen tracked sports stations in those markets, ranked the stations by ad revenue (actual expenditures were not available) and identified the top-spending advertisers on those stations.
