BASKETBALL

Phoenix Suns senior vice president Tom Ambrose is assuming day-to-day responsibilities for the team’s community affairs department as well as that of executive director of Phoenix Suns Charities.


COLLEGES

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics hired Mike Campbell as its first full-time director of marketing and corporate partnerships. Campbell is a former market manager for Susquehanna Kansas City.


FACILITIES

Kevin Camper was promoted to director of sales and marketing for Texas Motor Speedway. Camper was director of business development. Jason Bowling was named director of tickets for the speedway. Bowling has been in charge of credentials for the speedway since 1999.

Hontz
Rick Hontz was promoted to general manager of the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo. He was assistant general manager of the facility.

Richard Walker was named box office manager for Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. He was assistant box office manager.


FOOTBALL

The NFL named Art Shell as senior vice president of football operations and development. Separately, Shell was selected to represent the NFL on the USA Football board of directors.

Idzik
The Arizona Cardinals hired John Idzik as senior director of football operations. He was assistant general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kettenbeil
The Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee hired Ken Kettenbeil as vice president of communications. He most recently worked for the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, in charge of its advertising, Web site and marketing initiatives.

The New York Jets promoted Marc Riccio to vice president of corporate sales from senior director, marketing and business development and Bob Brennfleck to senior director of marketing and business development from director of marketing and new business development.


HOCKEY

The Columbus Blue Jackets promoted Paul D’Aiuto to vice president of corporate development and Marc Gregory to executive director of marketing. D’Aiuto had been the team’s executive director of sales since August 1999. Gregory had been director of advertising and promotions since June 1999.

Steve Goldstein was named radio voice of the Florida Panthers for broadcasts on the team’s flagship, WQAM-AM, and its affiliates.


MARKETING

Doug Colby was hired by fan research firm EventCorp Services Inc. as new director of sales and marketing. Colby worked for the Canadian Football League’s B.C. Lions and CHUM Radio Canada.

T.E.A.M. Marketing named Laurie Landgrebe its vice president of business development, overseeing new client acquisition and strategic partnerships. The move comes in conjunction with the company forming a partnership with L2 Group Sports & Entertainment, which Landgrebe founded.

Athletic Appearance hired Brendan Nicholas for the company’s professional sports publications division.

Sanders
Heather Sanders was promoted by The Leffler Agency to national development director from new-business development assistant.

Andy Slate was hired by 361º Sports + Event Marketing as an account executive. He previously worked with Relay Sponsorship & Event Marketing.

Patrick Zubrow was named regional director for Summit Performance Group’s new Eastern regional office. Zubrow is charged with marketing the San Diego-based company’s meeting planning, incentive and sports hospitality services to companies in Eastern markets.


MEDIA

Forest
Clear Channel Entertainment Television named Marc Forest vice president of programming and production. Forest was executive producer and owner of sports and entertainment television production company Double Time Productions.

Time4 Media’s Skiing magazine promoted Mike Kessler to executive editor from articles editor; Evelyn Spence to articles editor from managing editor; and Sam Moulton to senior editor from associate editor.


MOTORSPORTS

Scott Duncan was hired as vice president of sales and marketing for the American Le Mans Series. Duncan most recently worked as a sales executive for Bell Racing Co.

Nate Siebens was hired as public relations manager of the Grand American Road Racing Association. He worked in the communications department of the Champ Car World Series.


AWARDS AND BOARDS

Brad Watters, president of the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa Renegades, was named Businessman of the Year in Ottawa by the Consumers’ Choice Awards.

Memphis Grizzlies president of basketball operations Jerry West was named 2003-04 NBA executive of the year, as selected by NBA executives for Sporting News.

The Oregon Sports Authority Foundation elected Karen Whitman president, Linda Williams vice president and Dave Girt secretary-treasurer. Newly elected members of the board of directors are Larry Remmers, David Lippoff, Owen Blank, Diane Penny, John Herman, Terry Shanley, Mike Nealy, Ted Wheeler, Randy Miller and Kevin Kelly.
