For the week of 4/26/04-5/2/04

NBA PLAYOFFS-ROUND ONE: ABC averaged a 4.2 rating/10 share for its first three playoff broadcasts, down 7 percent from a 4.5 rating/12 share through its first three games last year. Through 21 telecasts, TNT averaged 2.04 million households, up 1 percent over last year’s 27 first-round games. ESPN’s 13 first-round telecasts averaged 1.9 million, off 1.5 percent from 11 first-round games last year.

NHL PLAYOFFS: Through two rounds, ABC’s four telecasts averaged 1.98 million households, up 12.2 percent from last year; ESPN’s 17 telecasts averaged 748,021 households, up 12.5 percent; ESPN2’s 22 games averaged 491,506 households, up 18.5 percent; and CBC’s 14 games averaged 1.9 million households, up 13 percent.

AFL HOLDS STEADY: With two-thirds of the AFL regular season complete, NBC is averaging 1.27 million households per broadcast, a 5 percent gain over the first 13 weeks of last season. The league failed to top a 0.9 rating for nine broadcasts from April 13-May 31 last year, but did so this April 25.
