Dean Taylor, former Milwaukee Brewers general manager, was named assistant general manager of the Cincinnati Reds.


BASKETBALL

Ed Desser was named executive vice president, strategic planning and business development for the NBA.

Charlotte Allison was hired as vice president of event marketing for the Memphis Grizzlies and FedEx Forum. She was formerly regional Internet sales and marketing director and Southeast/Southwest regional promotion and marketing director for Ticketmaster.


COLLEGES

Tiffany Utsman Carpenter joined the University of Tennessee athletic department as director of public relations. She was previously with Atkinson Public Relations in Nashville.


FACILITIES

Joe Gliniecki was hired as sales and marketing coordinator for the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee.

Volume Services America Holdings promoted Janet Steinmayer to senior executive vice president, general counsel and secretary. Douglas Drewes was elected executive vice president.


FOOTBALL

Lisowski
John Lisowski was hired as chief executive officer of the Canadian Football League's Ottawa Renegades. He had retired as a managing partner at the Ottawa office of PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Matthew Higgins was named vice president for strategic planning for the New York Jets. He comes from the Lower Manhattan Development Corp.


HOCKEY

Tera Black was promoted to chief operating officer and alternate governor for the ECHL's San Diego Gulls.

Peter Austin was named account executive for the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros.

Jon Reist and Michael Reeves were named account executives with the Bakersfield (Calif.) Condors of the ECHL.


HORSE RACING

Belinda Stronach resigned as president and chief executive officer of Magna International.

Eric Guthoff was hired as senior director of corporate sponsorship and partnership marketing for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association in its New York office. He previously worked for Octagon.


MARKETING

Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs LLP established professional representation and management firm BDB Sports & Entertainment. Bret Adams will head the venture, and Adam Heller was named vice president.

Martin Gold was named a partner at Covington & Burling. He was floor adviser and counsel to Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn.
