BASEBALL

The independent Atlantic League's Somerset Patriots of Bridgewater, N.J., hired John Gibson as an account executive and Chris Aubertin as manager of ticket operations. Gibson comes from the Brockton Rox and Aubertin from the Berkshire Bears.

The Fresno (Calif.) Grizzlies of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League hired Chuck Kirlin as director of media relations, Megan Curdy as marketing manager, Luke Reiff as ticket manager and Brett Marshall as an account executive. Kirlin comes from the Cincinnati Reds, Curdy from the Tacoma Rainiers, Reiff from the Indianapolis Indians and Marshall from the Dallas Burn.

Sundberg
Jim Sundberg was hired as director of business development for the Texas Rangers. He will also have responsibilities in community relations and will continue as the team's minor league catching coordinator.

 


CYCLING

The Tour de Georgia promoted Chris Aronhalt to deputy executive director and Kathleen Hardison to director of strategic partnerships.


BASKETBALL

The WNBA's Detroit Shock promoted Dennis Sampier to director of business operations and Paul Hickey to director of media relations.

Richard Magid was named chief financial officer for the Natural Golf Corp.


MARKETING

Sullivan
Motorsports publicist Tim Sullivan joined Alan Taylor Communications and will help establish the company's presence in Charlotte.

Lonny Sweet was hired as director of talent and event marketing for Pantheon International, based in New York City. Sweet comes from the SFX Sports Group talent marketing division.

Giroux
Aimee Giroux was hired as a project coordinator for Millsport in its Charlotte office.

David D'Onofrio and Eric Jaye opened Storefront Public Affairs, a communications and political consulting firm specializing in facility development, with offices in San Francisco and northern Virginia.

Sport Brands International named Mark Westerman vice president of global marketing communication for Fila.

Sullivan
Tim Sullivan was hired as vice president of business development for the DCB Group.

Drew Stevenson was hired as an account executive for the Midwest regional sales development team at Ad Community, based in Chicago. Stevenson comes from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Spielman
Russell Spielman formed Full Circle Marketing in Dix Hills, N.Y.

Erik Gordon was hired as director aof business development for SportsMark Management Group Ltd. Gordon comes from Tailwind Sports Corp.


MEDIA

Kahn
Julie Kahn was named vice president and general manager of Boston sports radio station WEEI-AM.

Grayle Howlett, Sports Illustrated associate publisher, left the magazine to become publisher of newly launched music magazine Tracks.

News Corp. established an in-house ad sales staff to sell commercials on DirecTV. Bob Riordan was named senior vice president of ad sales.

Cole
Steve Cole was named editor of International Hot Rod Association in-house magazine Drag Review in Norwalk, Ohio.

Maureen Quilter was named communications manager for regional sports network Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia.


Quezada
MOTORSPORTS

Rick Quezada was promoted to senior marketing service manager for the NHRA.

Terri Parnell was promoted to the newly created position of national sports manager of the Tampa Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Paul D'Aloia was elected chief executive officer at Huffy Corp., replacing Don Graber, who is retiring.


TENNIS

Brewer
The United States Tennis Association named Lew Brewer director of junior competition for the USA Tennis High Performance program in Key Biscayne, Fla.

Bob Moffatt will leave his position as president and chief executive officer of Tennis Canada at the end of March.

Jeff Toler was hired as a sales manager and Sarah Willcox as an assistant ticket manager on the Pilot Pen Tennis staff for the USTA event, to be held Aug. 20-28 at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale. Toler comes from the Coastal Fairfield County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Willcox was a ticket supervisor for the tourney the last two summers.

Tandy O'Donoghue was named senior counsel, handling legal affairs for the U.S. Tennis Association's Professional Tennis unit.


OTHER

The Professional Bull Riders named former Ovation Entertainment president/CEO Alan Jacoby vice president of the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Challenger Tour. Joe Merrick was named executive director of American Bucking Bulls.
