Nasdaq-100 adds magazine sponsor

Venus Williams on March 2003 cover
The Miami-based Nasdaq-100 Open and Ocean Drive magazine, whose primary distribution is in South Florida, have struck a new three-year agreement under which the tournament program will run as a 48-page special section in Ocean Drive's March issue.

The two parties had a similar arrangement for the 2003 edition of the Nasdaq-100 Open, a men's and women's pro tennis tournament. But it was just "on a trial basis," said Adam Barrett, the tournament's director.

Ocean Drive, a lifestyle publication that caters to an upscale audience, has a circulation of about 70,000, said Jerry Powers, the magazine's president and publisher. The Nasdaq-100 Open is set for March 24-April 4.

Under terms of the deal, Ocean Drive becomes the official magazine of the tournament. Neither party would comment on financial terms.

The tournament is responsible for the content of the 48-page insert. Ocean Drive, in association with the tournament, will design and lay out the section. An extra 5,000 copies will be printed, and those will be the on-site programs.
