Atlanta Thrashers

Owner: Turner Broadcasting System Inc. signed a binding agreement earlier this month for the transfer of ownership of the Thrashers, Atlanta Hawks and operating rights to the teams' Philips Arena to Atlanta Spirit LLC. The deal, for 85 percent ownership, is valued at $250 million.

Boston Bruins

Buffalo Sabres

Owner: Thomas Golisano paid an estimated $80 million in April 2003 for the Sabres and operating rights to HSBC Arena. Golisano assumed control from the NHL, which had controlled the club after Adelphia Communications filed for bankruptcy protection in 2002 and John Rigas, founder and former chairman and CEO of Adelphia, was arrested on charges of fraud and criminal self-dealing. The Rigas family held 100 percent ownership of the team.

Calgary Flames

Owner: A group of investors bought the Atlanta Flames for $16 million in 1980 and moved the team to Calgary.
