Man U’s Kenyon to start day at NYSE

Kenyon
Peter Kenyon, Manchester United's chief executive, will have a busy day July 31, and not just because his team plays at Giants Stadium that night.

He is scheduled to ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange that day, said Charlie Stillitano, founder of ChampionsWorld, Man U's promoter. Because the team's public shares are not listed in the United States, Kenyon will be sponsored by the club's apparel partner, Nike. Kenyon is expected to be joined by his chief marketing officer, Peter Draper, and deputy CEO David Gill. Nike's top marketing executive, Ian Todd, also is expected to join them, Stillitano said.

Later in the day, the Man U executives are scheduled to meet with current and potential investors at Giants Stadium.

It won't be the first time Kenyon has rung the opening bell. Two years ago he also had the privilege, being sponsored that day by DLJDirect. The then-CEO of that company, Blake Darcy, is a ChampionsWorld board member.
